India Ends Physical Boarding Pass Stamping for International Travelers

The Bureau of Immigration will discontinue the mandatory physical stamping of boarding passes for international travelers at all Indian airports starting September 1.

Passengers will instead be required to present an e-boarding pass on their smartphones for immigration clearance to avoid errors caused by improper or incorrect manual stamping.

While physical boarding passes remain acceptable for travel, the Ministry of Home Affairs is also planning a pilot project to eventually eliminate physical immigration entry and exit stamps for Indian passport holders.
