India captain Shubman Gill will miss the first day of the three-day warm-up match against Sri Lanka XI in Colombo on August 7, 2026, due to a right ring finger injury.

KL Rahul will lead the Indian side in Gill's absence, with the BCCI medical team monitoring the captain's recovery as a precautionary measure before the first Test.

The two-match Test series against Sri Lanka is scheduled to begin on August 15 in Galle, followed by the second fixture in Colombo starting on August 23.
