Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma laid the foundation stone for a 3,200 MW thermal power plant in Dhubri district's Chapar on Sunday, set up by Adani Power Limited.
The ₹48,000 crore project comprises four 800 MW units utilizing ultra-supercritical technology and is part of a broader ₹63,000 crore power investment in Assam by the Adani Group.
The project is expected to generate up to 20,000 construction jobs and 5,000 operational jobs, with phased commissioning slated to begin in December 2030.
