
An earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale struck Uttarkashi district on Saturday night at 8.07 p.m., according to the National Centre for Seismology.
The epicentre was located two kilometres northwest of Uttarkashi at a depth of 11 kilometres, causing strong tremors in the town and the Yamunotri valley.
Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority officials reported that no damage had been recorded so far following the second tremor in the state within four days.
