Tamil Nadu hikes dearness allowance for employees to 63%

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay announced an increase in dearness allowance for state government employees and teachers from 60% to 63%.

The revised allowance takes effect retrospectively from July 2026, mirroring a similar hike implemented for Central government employees.

The decision will benefit 16 lakh employees, teachers, and pensioners, carrying an annual financial implication of ₹1,858 crore for the state.
