The Trump administration is attempting to prosecute former FBI Director James Comey over a decade-old alleged leak of classified information, marking the third criminal case pursued against him since Donald Trump returned to the White House.
The Justice Department unsealed documents in federal court in Washington and filed a criminal information to extend the 10-year statute of limitations for bringing the case.
James Comey dismissed the effort in a video statement as an appalling abuse of the Department of Justice, maintaining his innocence and expressing confidence in an independent federal judiciary.
