The US Department of Homeland Security ordered civilian government agencies on Monday to remove Chinese AI startup DeepSeek's products and third-party tools from IT devices.
The department warned that DeepSeek models present threat vectors and risk transferring sensitive US government and vendor data to China due to extensive legal authority over servers there.
The prohibition excludes military and intelligence services, while US and China officials agreed in September to establish a communication channel for AI incidents ahead of next month's summit.
