India Rejects Endorsement of Sheikh Hasina's Recent Press Remarks

The Ministry of External Affairs clarified on August 7, 2026, that the Indian government does not endorse comments made by former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during her August 5 press conference.

Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated the event was organised by a private media entity and the government had no involvement in the forum held at the Foreign Correspondents Club.

The Bangladesh Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed outrage over the interaction, calling it an affront to the sovereignty of the nation on the second anniversary of the July Revolution.
