Basant Kumar Meghwal and Shahnavaz Khan Secure World U20 Medals

Basant Kumar Meghwal won silver in the men’s high jump with a 2.21m clearance, becoming the first Indian to medal in the event at the World Athletics U20 Championships.

Shahnavaz Khan secured bronze in the men’s long jump with a best effort of 7.84m on August 8, 2026, in Eugene, bringing India's total medal count to three.

Meghwal, coached by Sahana Kumari, improved his personal best by 10cm this season, while Ashish Yadav previously claimed silver in the men’s javelin throw on August 7.
