Dinesh Sharma Appointed Lt Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands

President of India appointed BJP Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Dinesh Sharma as the new Lieutenant Governor of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, effective from the date he assumes office.

The 62-year-old former Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh will succeed Admiral D.K. Joshi, who has held the position since October 8, 2017.

Sharma, whose current Rajya Sabha term was scheduled to conclude on November 25, also serves as the vice chairperson of the Rajya Sabha.
