JNCASR Scientists Develop Smartphone-Based Alzheimer's Diagnostic Tool

Scientists at the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research developed a low-cost, smartphone-integrated platform for detecting Alzheimer’s disease.

The system uses a fluorescence-responsive molecule called TZ-48 to quantify the amyloid-β biomarker in biofluids through a dedicated mobile application.

This diagnostic tool aims to provide a scalable alternative to expensive methods like positron emission tomography and magnetic resonance imaging for early disease screening.
