The Kerala High Court directed the Travancore Devaswom Board to exercise caution in procuring materials for Sabarimala Temple prasadam to conform with quality standards and Hindu religious customs.
The bench addressed a 2021 petition objecting to 'halal-certified' jaggery powder supplied in food-grade plastic packaging, which the petitioner alleged violated temple rituals.
The court found the jaggery's quality satisfactory after laboratory tests but observed the Board should have avoided markings that caused apprehensions of conflict with religious practices.
