Essex Deputy Headteacher Warns Against Digital-Only GCSE Results

Luke Kilvert, deputy headteacher at Mayflower High School, warned that the new GCSE results app should not replace the traditional in-person results day experience.

Kilvert emphasised that physical attendance remains crucial for students to celebrate with staff and parents and to receive immediate support if they fail to meet grade requirements.

National data confirms the overall GCSE pass rate remains stable at 67.3% for grade 4/C and above across England, Wales, and Northern Ireland for the 2026 academic year.
