Indian Army Launches AASHVAST Lab to Detect Chinese Drone Components

The Indian Army inaugurated the AASHVAST facility on August 14, 2026, to identify Chinese-made components and security vulnerabilities in military unmanned aerial systems.

Located in New Delhi, the offline, read-only lab scans drone firmware for hidden passwords, embedded keys, and unauthorized remote-access tools that could compromise mission-critical electronics.

The suite was developed for the Directorate General of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering to ensure the integrity of defence platforms and strengthen cyber resilience against adversary interference.
