Union home minister Amit Shah stated on Friday that the BJP will implement the Uniform Civil Code in Uttar Pradesh if the party is voted back to power.
Speaking at the BJP state unit meeting, Shah predicted that the Samajwadi Party will remain out of power in the state for the next 30 years.
The announcement follows similar calls by other BJP leaders and former judges advocating for a nationwide common civil code to standardise family laws.
