NIA registers case to probe mid-air attack on Indian pilot

The National Investigation Agency registered a case under the Anti-Hijacking Act and UAPA to investigate last month's mid-air cockpit attack on Captain Smit Machchhar.

Co-pilot Hamam al-Hammami stabbed Machchhar aboard flydubai flight FZ1073 on September 30 during a flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv in an apparent hijacking attempt.

Machchhar sustained deep cuts to his head and hands before passengers and crew overpowered the attacker, according to the NIA FIR filed on October 9.
