Former India hockey captain M M Somaya wrote to Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar seeking intervention after burglars stole his 1980 Moscow Olympic gold medal and other valuables from his Bengaluru residence last month.
The stolen items include international sporting medals from the Asian Games and Champions Trophy, gold jewellery, silverware, and ₹30,000 in cash, with total property valued at ₹3.53 lakh.
Indiranagar police registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and formed two special teams to identify the suspects and recover the stolen property.
