Jaishankar Meets Russian and Iranian Foreign Ministers on UNGA Margins in New York

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met his Iranian and Russian counterparts in New York on the margins of the 81st UN General Assembly session.

The meetings followed US President Donald Trump signing the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026, which authorizes sanctions on countries purchasing oil and gas from Moscow and Tehran.

India reiterated its commitment to ensuring energy security for its 1.4 billion people through diversified sourcing in response to the US legislation.
