Cheltenham Superintendent Resigns Following Football Team Assault Charges

Cheltenham School District Superintendent Dr. Brian Scriven resigned effective August 6, 2026, one week after four coaches and six players were charged in a locker room hazing investigation.

A Grand Jury found that a 15-year-old student was assaulted on August 15 and September 3, 2025, with coaches failing to report the incidents to authorities or the victim's mother.

Joshua Sweigard, the district's Director of Business Services, will serve as acting superintendent until the school board approves a temporary appointment at their August 11 meeting.
