The Chamoli district administration banned high-frequency sound systems near the Badrinath Dham temple and other religious sites in Chamoli with immediate effect on Saturday.
District Magistrate Gaurav Kumar mandated that prior permission from the local Sub-Divisional Magistrate is required for organizing any event near cultural and religious locations.
The restriction follows public objections raised by religious leaders and citizens against the two-day Devbhoomi Cultural Festival held near the Badrinath shrine earlier this month.
