Broward County Public Schools in Florida faces potential closure of over 10 campuses for the 2027-2028 academic year due to 50,000 empty seats.
The district has lost over 40,000 students in the past 10 years, resulting in a revenue decline exceeding $30 million.
Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn noted that the school board will discuss further consolidation and repurposing of schools during a meeting scheduled for August 25.
