J&K Assembly Adjourned Amid Uproar Over Statehood Resolution

The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly erupted in chaos and fist fights on Friday after Chief Minister Omar Abdullah moved a resolution seeking the restoration of full statehood.

BJP MLAs strongly protested references to a controversial 2000 autonomy resolution passed by the erstwhile state assembly, leading to verbal clashes and torn copies.

Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather adjourned the House for 30 minutes before proceedings were eventually called off until Monday, September 28.
