The Indian government officially rejected a call from the US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) to impose sanctions on the RSS on August 22, 2026.
New Delhi dismissed the commission's report as biased and lacking credibility, stating that the body has a persistent agenda against India's internal affairs.
The rejection comes ahead of a planned centenary-year outreach visit by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat to the US, Canada, and the UK, which the USCIRF had sought to restrict.
