Voting for biennial elections to eight Bihar Legislative Council seats began at 8 am on Friday across four Graduates and four Teachers constituencies, with 5,32,847 voters eligible.
The Patna Graduates constituency has emerged as a key contest due to an open rift within the JD(U), where Mokama MLA Anant Singh is backing Jan Suraaj Party candidate Anuj Singh against sitting MLC Neeraj Kumar.
The BJP has fielded candidates in four constituencies, the JD(U) in the remaining four, and the Jan Suraaj Party in all eight, with vote counting scheduled for October 27.
