
A three-year ICMR study of 159,336 patients across 20 tertiary-care hospitals found that carbapenem drug-resistant infections significantly increase patient mortality and treatment costs.
Among patients with Gram-negative infections, over 60% were resistant to carbapenem antibiotics, with resistant E. coli and P. aeruginosa showing 41% and 43% higher relative risks of death, respectively.
