The Lower Merion School District has banned two parents, Rebecca Foscolo and David Smyth, from attending board meetings in person until June 30, 2027, citing disruptive behavior.
The district announced that Monday's board meeting will be held virtually only, following recent outbursts and alleged threatening social media comments regarding the district's technology policy.
First Amendment lawyers and the ACLU have questioned the legality of the ban, noting that school districts generally cannot unilaterally prohibit residents from attending public meetings.
