Heavy Rains and Landslides Claim Eight Lives Across Kerala

Eight people died in rain-related incidents as intense rainfall triggered flash floods and landslides across Kerala between the night of July 31, 2026, and August 1, 2026.

Authorities issued orange alerts for 13 districts, while over 1,465 people are currently sheltered in 65 active relief camps across the state to manage the ongoing emergency.

The Idukki reservoir water level rose nearly 6 feet in 24 hours to reach 2,336.04 ft by 1:00 p.m. on August 1, 2026, following 154 mm of rainfall in its catchment area.
