
The Ministry of Education approved setting up five Centres of Excellence to preserve and study classical Assamese, Bengali, Pali, Prakrit, and Marathi.
The centres aim to strengthen academic research, digital archiving, and the dissemination of India's linguistic and civilisational heritage.
The institutions chosen to host the centres include Tezpur University, Visva Bharati University, and the Central University of Odisha.
