A Meerut court sentenced Muskan Rastogi and Sahil Shukla to death for the murder of her merchant navy officer husband, Saurabh Rajput, whose remains were found in a cement-filled drum in March 2025.
District and Sessions Judge Arvind Kumar Mishra convicted the duo of murder and destruction of evidence after more than 100 hearings and 22 prosecution witness examinations, also imposing fines of ₹70,000 on each.
Prosecution lawyer K.K. Chaubey stated that the judge cited the Mahabharata during the sentencing, observing that justice requires punishment proportionate to the gravity of the offence.
