Maharashtra Congress claims 30% electorate faces disenfranchisement in voter roll revision

A Maharashtra Congress delegation met Chief Electoral Officer S. Chockalingam on Tuesday, seeking a two-month extension for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision campaign.

The party reported that 2,06,88,487 names, or 21.14% of the state's 9.78 crore voters, were dropped between the 2024 assembly elections and August 31, 2026.

Congress highlighted that notices are being issued to 1,22,24,007 unmapped or anomalous voters, while ongoing festive seasons have delayed the serving of notices.
