West Khasi Hills district authorities in Meghalaya sought a detailed report following the death of a three-year-old ailing child in his mother's arms during a ten-kilometer trek.
Family members attempted to find a vehicle on the night of October 1, but drivers refused to enter Domkyrkoh village due to poor road conditions, prompting the family to walk toward Mawdet the next morning.
Locals noted that a ₹25 crore road project for the village was sanctioned months ago, while district officials also launched an inquiry into separate recruitment irregularities at a local hospital.
