Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay convened an all-party meeting on Saturday where 21 MPs unanimously resolved to oppose any population-based delimitation that reduces the state's parliamentary representation.
The participating leaders demanded that the total number of Lok Sabha seats remain frozen at 543, ensuring Tamil Nadu retains its current share of 39 members in the Parliament.
Major regional parties including the DMK and AIADMK boycotted the meeting, with 37 out of 57 state MPs choosing not to attend the session held at Kalaivanar Arangam.
