The State Sentence Review Board of Odisha rejected the premature release of Rabindra Kumar Pal alias Dara Singh, who is serving life for killing Australian missionary Graham Staines and his two sons.
The Board noted that his release could lead to communal disturbances, citing protests and provocative slogans raised by supporters outside the Kendujhar District Jail.
Singh has spent over 26 years in prison for the 1999 murders and had previously approached the Supreme Court seeking release under state guidelines.
