Karnataka Launches Red Ribbon Campaign for HIV Awareness

The Karnataka State AIDS Prevention Society has launched an eight-month Red Ribbon campaign across colleges to increase HIV awareness through digital engagement and student participation.

Data from the National AIDS Control Organisation indicates that approximately 56,000 individuals in Karnataka remain unaware of their HIV status, prompting the use of a QR-based self-assessment tool.

While over 203,000 people have received treatment since 2004, health officials clarified that testing remains voluntary under the HIV and AIDS (Prevention and Control) Act, 2017.
