The Allahabad High Court disposed of a habeas corpus petition regarding an adult man allegedly detained by his father following his conversion to Islam.
Justice Sandeep Jain noted that 31-year-old petitioner Ayush Malik is a major who voluntarily renounced Hinduism and married Chandni Qureshi against his father's wishes.
The court observed that allegations of detention and state authority involvement were serious, while an FIR had earlier been lodged under the UP unlawful conversion act.
