Supreme Court Halts High Court Proceedings Against Rahul Gandhi

The Supreme Court on Monday, August 17, 2026, ordered an immediate halt on disproportionate assets proceedings initiated by the Allahabad High Court against Lok Sabha Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi.

A three-judge Bench led by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant directed that no report shall be submitted by the CBI or ED to the High Court, which was scheduled to hear the case on August 20.

Rahul Gandhi challenged the locus standi of the private complainant, S. Vignesh Shishir, alleging he is an RSS member who has filed multiple complaints and public interest litigations against him.
