The Karnataka State AIDS Prevention Society (KSAPS) officially refuted media reports claiming 7,000 college students in the state tested HIV positive, calling the information false.
KSAPS clarified that the figure was a misinterpretation of data showing 39,028 people in the 18-35 age group receiving Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) since 2004.
Between April and June 2026, the state detected 3,202 HIV-positive cases out of 553,453 general clients tested, with 111 cases identified among 281,742 pregnant women tested.
