India Approves ₹84,084 Crore 'Samudra Manthan' Offshore Energy Scheme

The Union Cabinet has approved the 'Samudra Manthan' scheme, a national offshore exploration initiative with a total financial outlay of ₹84,084 crore.

The project aims to drill 60 deep-sea wells, with the government allocating up to ₹650 crore per well to reduce India's heavy reliance on oil imports.

This strategic investment is expected to boost domestic energy production and enhance India's offshore exploration capabilities over the coming years.
