DPIIT Mandates Government Approval for Using Indian Patent Office Logo

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade issued a public notice stating that no individual or business entity can use the official Indian Patent Office logo without prior approval.

The Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks noted that unlawful utilization of the emblem on websites and advertisements creates a false impression of government endorsement.

Unauthorized use of the logo violates multiple statutes, including the Emblems and Names Act and the Trade Marks Act, and will attract immediate civil and criminal prosecution.
