India initiated an anti-dumping investigation into imports of Penicillin G and its salt forms from China following a complaint by domestic manufacturer Lyfius Pharma.
Lyfius Pharma alleged that Chinese imports are causing material retardation to the domestic industry by forcing price reductions and preventing expected production levels.
The Aurobindo Pharma subsidiary manufactures the antibiotic at a 15,000-tonne Kakinada facility inaugurated in October 2024 with a 2,500 crore rupee investment under the production-linked incentive scheme.
